How to Grow Stronger in the Lord

Have you ever planted a seed, watered it and waited to see its first tiny shoot coming out of that soil then you definitely know the joy that you experience when you see it. When you take good care of that plant, water it daily, put the manure that is required then after some days and months it grows and grows into a tree some may require years of taking good care and then only we get the fruits out of it. So it’s quite a long process and requires lot of patience.

Similarly when it comes to our Spiritual life, relationship with God in order to grow it requires much care, patience, good nurture which comes from soaking in His presence, in His word and seeking Him constantly. A beautiful lesson can be learned from the process of seed sown to its yielding fruits and that can be practiced in our Spiritual life to be fruitful.

Seed must die in the soil in order to grow.

As the Bible says in John 12:24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. Dying of seed is important in order to grow and Galatians 2:20 says "I have been crucified with Christ, I no longer live but Christ lives in me." Unless we die in the good soil that’s Christ Jesus, we won’t bear good fruits  and we won’t have a life in Him.

When you are in a dark place you tend to think you are buried perhaps you have been planted.

When seed is sown it’s in complete darkness cannot see anything, no light only surrounded by darkness. At some point of life we are in darkness where we cannot see any hope and fear starts to surround us, that’s when we need to have faith that we will overcome this darkness just like a tiny seed overcomes darkness and dirt to come out into light. Always remember when we are about to grow, darkness will be there but with Christ we can overcome that.

What you have planted in faith don’t dig it in doubt.

When you plant something or God plants something in your life don’t dig it in doubt just because you are not able to see anything out of it, everything has its own time to bear fruit and sometimes it takes more time than we expect, that is just because God is still working in us, we need to have faith, there may be a delay but never a denial in God’s kingdom. In waiting period never dig in doubt the seed which was sown just to look if something is happening or not, we just need to wait till seed sprouts.

What you focus on Grows.

Everything comes down to focus, what we Focus on Grows, if the plant is unattended and not taken care of properly then chances are that it may not survive, If we leave God’s voice, His calling unattended then there may be time when we miss and mess the season God has planted us to be fruitful but if we focus on God continue to hear Him and call on Him, we will find our-self fruitful in right season that God has planned for us.

A tree with Strong roots laughs at the storms.

The tree can only survive storms if only it has stronger roots, a weaker root gets uprooted easily. In our Spiritual life if we are not grounded deep in prayer and word of God, a difficult situation can make us weaker and that’s when the enemy can win over us but a deeper and closer relationship with God will provide enough strength to face any storm coming near.

The day you plant a seed is not the day you eat its fruit.

To have patience is one difficult task in a situation where you do not feel God’s presence, or when your prayers are unanswered. The Bible says in John 13:7 “Jesus answered him, “what I am doing you do not understand now, but afterwards you will understand.” Sometimes we need to have patience, that’s when God is teaching us, molding us for His greater plan for us.

Let's Pray

Heavenly Father I pray that you help us to grow each day in you, that no darkness could overpower us, that you give us the faith, patience and the strength needed to grow and to bear good fruits. We submit ourselves to you in Jesus name Amen.
