How to be friends with the Holy Spirit?

You can have many friends in this world but none can be compared to having a friend as Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit comes in your life He changes everything, your character, your behavior, your choices, your relationship with God, He will equip you to grow in your talents, in your work, in everything that seems difficult and impossible to you. The Bible says in John 14:16 “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever.” What a privilege to have a friend like Him, He is always forever with us, guiding us, protecting from the enemy. Here are four keys you can be friends with the Holy Spirit.

“Reconcile and be born again”

The Bible says in John 3:3 Jesus answered,” I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.” It’s the very first step to come near and allow the Holy Spirit to be in you as in John 15:4 it is written “Abide in Me, I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me”. Repenting of all sins can allow God to purify you and mend you for His original plan He has for you.

“Be Humble God opposes the proud”

James 4:6 says “But He gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” There is thin line between being humble and proud, what I learned is when we think we are humble enough by our own understanding that’s when we climb first step towards being proud about ourselves and if we are blinded by our own understanding we will never grow. God says He opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Being humble and not carried by our own understanding can bring us near to God and to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

“Obedience toward God’s word”

Acts 5:32 says “And we are His witness to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.” Verse itself is so clear that God gives the Holy Spirit to those who walk in obedience and follow His word in their life. We need to ask ourselves daily are we really following God’s word in our life, our God is generous God, He gives us what we ask in prayer, we just need to be like a good soil where seed can be sown by Him.

“Overcome temptations that bring sin”

We glorify God when we keep ourselves away from sin, when we pray to overcome from the sinful temptations that’s when we honor God with our action. Jesus teaches disciples how to pray and ask them to pray for their temptations as well. Also never sin against Holy Spirit in Mathew 12:30-32 says “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters, and I also tell you any sin blasphemy can be forgiven…everyone who speaks against son of God can be forgiven but anyone who blasphemes Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.” But if we love and obey Him He is there forever with us and will help us, give us strength and victory.

What does the Holy Spirit do when He comes to your life?

Now you already know how to be friends with Holy Spirit, you also need to know what He does in your life.

He gives  clarity and transparency to the heart, mind, thoughts.

He makes you more sensitive to God’s Presence and you will experience His presence like never before.

He will Manifest Miracles through you. God wants us to be used to speak about Jesus to the ends of the earth, to heal the sickness, to give a word to His people, Prophesy and deliver like His disciples did. Acts 2:17 says “And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your son’s and your daughters  shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.

He will equip you in things that are difficult for you.

He will guide you in making decisions.

He will help you grow in God’s word, and will give you new revelations.

Prayer

Heavenly Father I thank you for giving us the Holy Spirit and I pray for everyone to be filled with the Holy Spirit those who are seeking and praying for it. Lord bless them and lead them to grow in you and always abide in you, break every stronghold stopping them, no weapon formed against them shall prosper in the name of Jesus Amen.
